If there is, it is totally understandable. Many of us were programmed to feel obligated like Jeremiah of the Bible to have a "fire in the belly" when it comes to sharing belief and condemning others. That tendency remains far beyond association with the group and goes away when one realizes no power has sent them here on a special mission.

My best friend's Mother died this morning ....
by The Berean inindeed she was of failing health and the loss was not unexpected.. what makes this a story however is how her only son handled her last days in a nursing home.. you see mother was an active jw who had chosen virtually no contact with her disfellowshipped son or grandchildren for over 40 years.
the local congregation had permanently marked my friend as evil and although few had seen him for decades the group went along with this summary judgement and treated him as less than human.. as mother lay dying surrounded by several of her fellow believers, my friend reportedly conducted himself with honor and respect, both for his mother's wishes to have a service at the kh after her passing and also for the beliefs of those gathered in that small room at the home.. in my opinion, my friend showed forgiveness to his enemies in spite of suffering a lifetime of social banishment.
he also showed deep respect for a mother who had abandoned him and his family many years ago.. if there is a god in heaven, i pray he would reward my dear friend ....

Did You Ever "Grieve" God's Holy Spirit?
by minimus inanytime the congregation's numbers were down or there were numerous problems in the hall, the elders would question whether anyone might've grieved the holy spirit.
did you ever??
?.

From my corner:
Humans can not "grieve the holy spirit." According to the WBTS the holy spirit is a FORCE, not a person with thoughts and feelings ...unless ... they are actually supporting the Trinity by claiming that the Father, son, and Holy Spirit have the same set of values ...

I believe that many former JWs actually are showing a form of love by not attempting to destroy the "sandcastles in their mind" that current members still build and hold worship in. You showed them a great courtesy and restraint by not venting. In my opinion, it is because you are likely anchored and secure ... plus it's a course of practical wisdom, we know that any point of view contrary to their script will be belittled ... and who needs more of that!

I am relatively happy since acknowledging that for many years I have not been so. I have now reached a neutral plateau of contentment. Whether true happiness from this point on is a possibility remains to be seen. I have not yet totally assessed past emotional damages. Time will tell ...
